New Netflix Facility Is Coming To A Local Beach
The streaming giant is set to go local as a new Netflix facility is coming to a local beach.
We all have lost ourselves for hours at a time in a new show or our favorites while watching Netflix.
We all have missed calls and been late to events sneaking in that last episode of Stranger Things or Ozark.
But have you ever wondered where your favorite shows are filmed?
Well, they may be filmed not too far from you.
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer “The streaming service was recently chosen as the top bidder for a nearly 300-acre plot of land in Eatontown and Oceanport, the New York Times reports. The site formerly housed the Fort Monmouth Army base, which was closed in 2011, and is about 80 miles from Philadelphia.”
The bid for the site is not final but if and when it completed it will provide a pretty significant economical impact to the area.
Netflix has two other facilities that were recently completed. One located in New Mexico the other in Brooklyn. The Brooklyn facility is 170,000 square feet.
“The site has been appraised at about $54 million by the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority, the Times reports. Other developers have offered in excess of $100 million for 89 acres of the former base’s 1,126-acre spread” according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Netflix recently saw a massive uptick in content.
According to Variety “In a data point sure to fuel more quantity-versus-quality debate, Netflix broke its own record for number of original episodes released in a single quarter — with 1,026 in the third quarter of 2022, according to a tally by Wall Street firm MoffettNathanson.”
