Mixing history with ghost stories somehow makes the supernatural a little more scary.
So if you like being shocked but also learning at the same time these tours are for you.
The Newark History Society is presenting their Ghostly Great Halloween History Tours on many dates leading up to Halloween.
According to Hunt Halloween the Newark History Society is inviting you to “join us for a one-hour, family friendly (but spooky) tour of some of the places you might want to avoid on foggy nights when the moon is full. Tours will begin on Main Street in front of Old College on Tuesdays and Fridays, from October 18 – 28.”
The tour is offered in partnership with Newark Parks & Recreation and the tour is approximately a half mile long.
Hunt Halloween also says “This fall, Dr. Jim Jones and members of the Newark Historical Society will show you where Newark’s “bodies are buried,” focusing on the historic people of Newark who may be still be lurking our Newark Streets. ”
The current tour schedule is as follows:
October 18 – Dr. Jim Jones, Popular Local Historian
October 21 – Colin Adams-Toomey, NCCL School Teacher
October 25 – Mary Torbey, Newark History Museum Curator
October 28 – Alex Toth, Save Old Newark Coalition Founder

They do ask that you wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.
