66 Dogs And Cats Airlifted From Florida To Delaware
66 dogs and cats airlifted from Florida to Delaware during the throes of Hurricane Ian are now in the Brandywine Valley SPCA shelter.
As we know, Hurricane Ian ran through Southwest Florida leaving only traces of what once was in some areas. Miles and miles of devastation lay in parts of Florida where people once lived and vacationed.
The Brandywine Valley SPCA stepped in to help shelters in Florida so they could make room for displaced pets.
According to their website, the BVSPCA teamed up with Petco Love and Wings of Rescue to orchestrate the first rescue airlift from impacted areas of Florida following Hurricane Ian’s devastating landfall. The flight carried dogs and cats that were adoptable in shelters prior to the storm.
The Humane Society Naples has been pulling shelter animals from across the heavily damaged areas of Collier, Lee, Sarasota and Highland Counties.
Relocating these homeless pets allows the sending shelters to focus on recovering and being a resource for local family pets displayed during the storm. The dogs and cats were evaluated by the medical team at BVSPCA and are up for adoption at the West Chester Campus as of Tuesday, October 4th.
