Lewes Grotto Pizza Will Be Renovated
Grotto Pizza is a legendary Delaware staple and the Lewes Grotto Pizza will be renovated for next summer.
Grotto Pizza Grand Slam will receive a facelift over the next few months in preparation for next summer.
The legendary location will remain operational during the renovation.
You may have seen the landmark if you are traveling on Route 1 just south of the Five Points intersection near Lewes.
According to the Cape Gazette “Renovations will focus on the dining rooms and bar. The restaurant will also receive new bathrooms and an updated exterior façade with Grotto’s signature tower. Also planned are a new patio, a fire pit and an enhanced takeout area.”
The renovations and facelift are scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
A spokesperson for Grotto says peoples preference to dine outside and grab more takeout is the reason for the renovations.
The Lewes location has stood since 1986 and is currently 10,500 square feet. Grotto Pizza was founded in 1960 in downtown Rehoboth Beach.
According to their website “Since establishing our Grotto Gives Back program in 1985, Grotto Pizza has donated in excess of $15 million to our local communities through our Community Pizza Night program, holiday fundraising, and donations to youth programs, schools, the military, hospitals, first responders and other philanthropic giving.”
