Free Fly-Fishing Lessons In Delaware
Anglers rejoice! The DNREC is offering free fly-fishing lessons in Delaware this upcoming fall.
Fly-fishing has become more and more popular over the years so it’s no surprise there is a demand for more education on the sport.
The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control Division of Fish and Wildlife will be offering free fly-fishing lessons this fall to hopeful anglers.
Brand new fisherman are encouraged to sign up for these free of charge introductory lessons. The White Clay Fly Fishers Club will be on hand during the courses.
The course will be conducted in two parts. The two three-hour Saturday lessons will be Sept. 24 and Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Aquatic Resources Education Center, 2520 Lighthouse Road, Smyrna, DE, 19977.
Prospective anglers will need to take care of a few things before taking the free lessons. According to a press release “t individuals 16 years of age and older who participate in this program must have a current Delaware fishing license. License-exempt anglers, including Delaware residents 65 and older, must obtain a free FIN number to fish. Delaware recreational fishing licenses are sold and free FIN numbers are available online at de.gov/fishinglicense and from authorized license agents statewide as listed online.”

Participants are encourage to bring their own equipment to these free lessons.
Don’t have a rod? No worries. Instructors will also have loaner equipment available for program participants to use during the free two-day courses.
