Local Member Of National Guard Aids Seniors In Delaware
A local member of the National Guard is aiding seniors in Delaware. Daren Alexander joined the Delaware National Guard in 2016. Since then, he has traveled to southern Delaware to offer relief by distributing water. He worked as security during the civil unrest that unfolded in Wilmington after the death of George Floyd. And he also responded to the January 6th, 2021 insurrection on the United States Capitol.
Recently, Daren has discovered his new love; caring for seniors. Daren grew up around older family members and always had an appreciation for their role in his life. During his time in the National Guard, he completed a COVID CNA mission. While on the mission, he was sent to Millcroft Living in Newark, Delaware. At Millcroft, he participated in a two week accelerated training program.
Upon completion of this program Daren would become a certified nurse’s assistant. As a CNA, Daren would help the community’s health care workers and alleviate some of their every day stresses.
It was intended to be a temporary position, but Daren enjoyed it so much that he felt called to continue. Daren is now a full time employee of Millcroft Living. Now he gets to work with seniors every day.
