Pennsylvania Has the No. 9 Best City to Live in America
There’s no denying that Pennsylvania is a great place to live. As it turns out, it’s now official that Pennsylvania is a fantastic place to live, as one of our cities has been named the No. 9 best city to live in the United States for 2022. It’s obviously because Pennsylvania rocks.
For nine years now, Livability.com has been ranking the most livable small to mid-sized cities in America. This year, the outlet looked at 2,300 mid-sized cities with populations of 500,000 or less. Then, it got down to its top 100. “Every year, the list changes: we conduct exclusive studies and surveys, adjust our algorithm and add new variables and data points,” they state. “But one thing remains constant: We always start with the data. This year, we examined more than 2,300 cities based on more than 50 data points that are grouped into eight categories, measuring a city’s economic stability, housing, amenities, infrastructure, demographics, social and civic capital and health care. This is how we calculate each city’s LivScore.”
The also took the “wow” factor into consideration. “Yes, these are all statistically great places to live, but would you actually want to live here?” they asked. “What are the ways in which each of these cities is creating an environment that is accommodating for remote workers? Where can you spend a Saturday afternoon or meet your friends for happy hour after a long day? How is this city different from other places?”
So, which Pennsylvania city is No. 9 on the list? Pittsburgh. “With 90 unique neighborhoods, there’s something for everyone in Pittsburgh,” the outlet states. “This mid-size city is among the best places to live in the U.S., thanks to its affordability, growing tech and robotics industry, and diverse landscapes that include rivers and valleys. Lots of green space, plus major league sports teams to cheer on and world-class universities, all contribute to the hometown pride that’s palpable in Pittsburgh.” Madison, Wisconsin, came in at No. 1 on the tally.
