Tiger Woods is Coming to Delaware
This weekend is the BMW Championships and golf legend Tiger Woods IS coming to Delaware.
According to 6 ABC Tiger Woods is expected to make the trek to Wilmington to meet with players. His goal is to rally players around the PGA.
The PGA is currently competing with the new upstart LIV golf tour and has seen many players make the jump in order to make more guaranteed money.
The Top 20 golfers in the world and a few very influential PGA professionals will attending the meeting.
The meeting will take place at Wilmington Country Club the site of this weekend’s BMW Championship.
According to 6 ABC “Woods offered his sharpest criticism of players who abandoned the PGA Tour for the Saudi Arabian-backed LIV Golf circuit at last month’s Open Championship at St. Andrews. Several past major champions, including Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka and Bubba Watson, have been lured to the new circuit being fronted by Greg Norman with guaranteed contracts reportedly worth between $100 million and $200 million.”
Woods has been a proponent of young players staying in the PGA tour because the tour has been so good to him throughout his career.
According to the BMW Championships website “Conducted by the Western Golf Association to benefit the Evans Scholars Foundation, the BMW Championship is the second of three events in the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup and determines the final field of 30 for the TOUR Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.”
