The Choco Taco is No More!
This morning on Deanna & Justin in the Morning we discovered the Choco Taco is no more! We had a hard time finding them in Wilmington!
The Unilever company, who owns Klondike, has decided to discontinue the famous sweet treat.
The 38 year run of the taco like frozen concoction will come to an end soon due to the company wanting to explore “new and exciting innovations.”
In my opinion a chocolate taco filled with ice cream and dipped in chocolate might be at the pinnacle of innovation!
We sent some people out to find Choco Tacos in the wild. They weren’t successful.
We even had Hollywood Kyle’s mom check Rite Aid, CVS, and a few gas stations for the treat. We had no success!
This may be because the company has already phased out the four-pack of tacos earlier in the year and that some single serve tacos could still be available.
According to The Takeout the single serve tacos will be available on ice cream trucks and some convenience stores. Hollywood Kyle did confirm he bought a Choco Taco off the ice cream seller on the beach in Sea Isle.
Fortunately the Choco Taco is easy to copy at home. You just need ice cream, chocolate, and some sort of waffler maker. It may not taste the same but would still hold the same nostalgia.
Some people online are claiming the death of the Choco Taco could be a hoax! They are comparing the situation to Taco Bell’s recent reinstitution of the Mexican Pizza.
Taco Bell discontinued the Mexican Pizza a few years back and the internet went into a rage. The rage became so big the Mexican Pizza was brought back and sold out IMMEDIATELY.
Either way, we had a very tough time finding this beloved and nostalgic treat in Wilmington this morning. If you find a Choco Taco, savor it.
Luckily its frozen, so it in theory could last forever.
Want to try something exotic and frozen? How about wasabi ice cream?
