It’s celebrated on July 13, “recognizing Delaware as the first state to declare independence from the British” according to National Day Calendar. The state of Delaware gained its independence officially in 1776, when 13 colonies separated from the British government.
Delaware is home to tax-free shopping, the great Delaware beaches, and makes for a short trip to Philadelphia, Poconos, Wildwood, Atlantic City and Cape May, New York City, Washington DC, and many more great east coast destinations.
