Texas Couple Found Dog In Suitcase At The Airport
Jared and Kristi Owens were preparing for their flight from Texas to Las Vegas last month when they found a surprise in one of their bags at the airport.
One of the couple’s suitcases was overweight, requiring them to open it up to do some rearranging. Much to their surprise, zipped up in the suitcase and poking his head out of a cowboy boot was their beloved chihuahua Icky.
Speaking to local radio station, KCBD, Jared said: ‘Literally, there’s our dog coming out of my boot, coming out of my boot with her head bopping up.
‘She’s the burrower, that’s what she does. She burrows in clothes, she burrows in, obviously suitcases now.’
Shocked to see Icky, the couple was now concerned about making their flight.
A kind Southwest Airlines employee offered to watch the pup while the couple was away on their weekend getaway.
‘They have got a heck of an employee in Cathy,’ added Jared.
‘She went above and beyond and never made us feel, you know, they could have turned us in saying we were trying to smuggle a dog to Vegas or something.
‘Never acted like that, they were extremely gracious. Like I said, she was willing to watch our dog for us while we were gone.’
Luckily, the story did have a happy ending, but Jared reminds us that it could’ve ended differently.
‘Thank goodness we found this dog,’ continued Jared, ‘because you would have gotten to Vegas, and you probably would have had a deceased animal in your bag.’
