Iceland Trials 4 Day Workweek With “Overwhelming Success”
Iceland has trialed 4 day work weeks twice now. They have done two large scale tests between 2015 and 2019, both were said to be “overwhelmingly successful.” About 1% of Iceland’s population participated in both trials. Which was around 2,500 people total. They all came from a variety of different work background and each worked between 35 to 36 hours a week. There was also no pay cut taken for their switch 4 day weeks.
According to CBSNews.com, Iceland’s Association for Sustainable Democracy published their results on July 4th. They found that the well-being of the workers significantly increased. The indicators ranged from perceived stress, burnouts, and health to work balance. They also found that productivity remained the same across the majority of workplaces.
