Full Moon Hike at Bellevue State Park

If you are from the Wilmington area, then you must be familiar with Bellevue State Park. The 328-acre park located in the suburbs of Wilmington is home to much more than just Du Pont history. The Park is home to several different walking trails, open fields, and wild animals. The trails at Bellevue are often filled with hikers enjoying their free time, horseback riders, or photographers trying to get that perfect sunset picture. If you are looking for something a little different then just a normal, Saturday afternoon hike, Bellevue is offering a full moon hike this summer!
The full moon hike provides a unique experience to hike through Bellevue at sunset and watch as the full moon rises. The hike itself lasts about an hour and you should keep your eyes peeled for deer and foxes as you explore! The tour is led by three guides, usually one up front and two bringing up the rear. The tour is not narrated but if you have any specific questions about buildings or the park in general, feel free to ask. Masks are required but it is up to the tour guide if that is enforced or not. A safe distance should be kept between yourself and other hikers.
There are two more full moon hikes this summer, Friday July 23rd, and Sunday August 22nd. Both will begin at 8:15 p.m. Pets are allowed as long as they are on a leash and flashlights will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own.
Tickets can be purchased here along with more information about the hike and the park itself. Tickets cost $5 and can also be bought over the phone at (302) -761-6963.
