Britney Spears Won’t Have Final Say In Conservatorship Hearing
Britney Spears wants the judge to hear her out over her 13-year-long conservatorship, but if she wants out, it weighs entirely on a sign-off by a team of doctors, gossip web site TMZ reports.
Britney will address the judge today (June 23) at 4:30 p.m. ET and there are plenty of fans who are praying she’s cut loose from her conservatorship that has been in place since 2008.
Up until now, 39-year-old Spears has never asked the court to end the conservatorship but wanted her dad's involvement to be terminated. Jamie Spears was once both her personal conservator and conservator of her estate. He has now been removed as her personal conservator and has been replaced with Jodi Montgomery as a permanent personal conservator. Jamie is now co-conservator of her estate with Bessemer Trust Company.
The “Toxic” singer made it clear that she will not perform until her father is removed from conservatorship involvement completely. Per the gossip site, she hasn’t taken any steps to plan for a return to the stage or the studio in the event Jamie is gone.
A team of doctors that have been in place for the entire 13-year conservatorship have deemed Britney’s incapable from safely caring for herself, and haven’t changed their opinion.
This means the judge will want to hear the doctors’ opinions and diagnosis, which has been regularly reviewed by past judges over the span of her conservatorship. If Britney is seen fit to care for herself and her children, then the judge should be able to terminate the conservatorship. However, if the doctors’ testimony is unfavorable, Spears would lose any requests to end the conservatorship.
Fans on Twitter showed their support for the singer’s court hearing today:

I hope Britney Spears gets her life back in her court hearing today. I think initially it was good her dad stepped in to protect her but I think she should be respected. Wonder how far this would have gone if she was a male? I love Britney and wish her all the best.
