New York School System Says “No More Snow Days”
Everyone can remember those childhood moments when they would wake up in the morning and see snow covering the ground. Then, only to find out that school has been cancelled too! Yesterday (May 4), the New York City Department of Education has announced that they will be getting rid of snow days.
Through the pandemic schools have learned that remote learning is not only possible but also convenient. According to USAToday.com, Education Week survey from last November found that principles and district leaders that 39% would have snow days changed and another 32% were considering the change.
Other districts are making a point to keep snow days. Because they are a chance for children to be exactly that, and get a day to play in the snow. They believe we make memories during snow days and they should be kept regardless.
