Hand Dryers Spread More Germs Than Paper Towels
Over the last year handwashing has become something we’ve collectively thought about more than ever. According to USAToday.com, it’s not just about if we wash our hands but, how we wash them. More specifically the way we dry them. High speed hand dryers have almost become the default in public bathrooms. It turns out that while they are convenient they also spread a lot of germs.
Research from Cambridge University has found that dryers in public bathrooms left people’s hands with far more contamination than just using a paper towel. Hand dryers tend to just move the germs around. They can transfer them onto your clothes and other surfaces around you. Since the study was performed at healthcare facility the hopes are that many facilities like their own and also public restrooms will resort back to just using a paper towel to wash their hands.
