Will Americans Return To The Mall After The Pandemic?
Malls in the US were struggling even before the Coronavirus pandemic had began. But in 2021, what would it take to bring people back to the mall? As we work our way back towards normal life, malls are preparing to do the same.
Before shutdowns, malls were already working towards new innovations to keep them relevant in a world where anything can be bought online. Some of these updates included: fitness centers, grocery stores, and more restaurants. According to Yahoo.com, these efforts are going to intensify when things start reopening.
Vince Tribone who is a senior retail analyst with the firm Green Street says, “the legacy mall model of having three of four department stores at a mall being keep traffic drivers- those days are over.” Now malls are trying to adapt to new trends. Some have even added private work spaces for remote workers.
The question remains, when everything goes back to normal will people be more likely to go to a mall and spend their money? Or have our spending habits now changed for good?
