It’s been a busy year for Grubhub as one of the leading online and mobile apps for ordering food. Every year they release data on what foods were the most popular choices among their users. According to prnewswire.com, they had over 30 million orders to analyze to see what were people’s favorite foods during this unconventional year.
One of the biggest areas of growth between 2019 and 2020 were vegan and vegetarian foods. However, that doesn’t mean comfort food and coffee still weren’t the most popular orders. Here are the top five food choices that saw growth in popularity from last year’s results:
- Spicy chicken sandwich: 318% increase
- Chicken burrito bowl: 299% increase
- Chicken wings: 287% increase
- Waffle fries: 221% increase
- Cold brew coffee: increase
Along with listing which breakfast foods, sides, late night snacks, and alcoholic drinks that increased in popularity; Grubhub also created a list of superlatives including:
Largest Order: 300 bean burritos
Top Pizza: Hawaiian, which rose 689% from last year
Most Energized: New York (ordered the most coffee)
