When decorating a Christmas tree we all do the same thing. We put all of our brightest most favorite ornaments and decorations on the side of the tree that everyone sees. If the tree is in the corner of the room we may leave the back of the tree bare or only put our least flattering ornaments there to take up space.
So why do we still still waste time putting lights around the back of the tree? A new trend is taking over social media where people are putting up their lights vertically. Instead of spending time wrapping your entire tree horizontally, you can put on your lights top to bottom. This will prevent wasting lights around the back of your tree and also allow the bulbs to sit closer together, which will maximize their light.
According to FoxNews.com, the “zig-zag” method can also make it easier to replace lights without disrupting the rest of your decorations. Vertical lights are also easier to take down and give more space if you’re thinking of adding multiple strands of lights.
This new trend has become so popular that the method has reportedly been used for the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree this year.
