National Parks Free For Veterans and Gold Star Families
Weather has been unseasonably warm for the start of November. What better way to enjoy than exploring the country’s national parks! According to NPR.org, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced that US military and gold star families will now have free access to national parks, wildlife refuges, and any other land operated under the Department of the Interior. In total that is more than 2,000 locations through out the US.
Access to these parks currently cost about $80 a year. Vets and gold star families can now acquire free access simply by showing a military identification. Which will include: Department of Defense Identification Cards, Veteran Health Identification Cards, and Veteran ID Cards. This goes into effect starting November 11th and will continue from that point forward.
