Americans Wish We Could End Seasonal Time Changes
November 1st marks the date we return to standard time. As we get closer, a new survey finds that 63% of Americans wish we could have one fixed time all year round. According to usnews.com, there are numerous health concerns that come with the time change. Studies show that the human body’s internal clock is more aligned with standard time.
If we were to switch it would decrease the risk of strokes. It would also eliminate the 18% increase in accidents due to human error that occur the first week every time we change the clocks. The National Academy of Sleep Medicine recently made a statement saying, “Daylight saving time results in more darkness in the morning and more light in the evening, disrupting the body’s natural rhythm.”
To make the best use of your extra hour this upcoming week doctors recommend: setting your clock back before going to bed, going to bed at your usual time, and still waking up at your normal time.
