Popular ice cream shop UDairy Creamery will officially close its Market Street location on October 25th.
Operated by The University of Delaware, the creamery has been serving its unique ice cream flavors to Wilmington residents for three years. The University of Delaware stated in a Facebook post that they have made this decision, “due to COVID-19 and current financial constraints.”
The university is currently facing a $250 million deficit, Delaware Online reports. The shop on Market Street is just part of large-scale cuts by the university including staff layoffs and forced retirements.
The UDairy Creamery in Newark, Delaware will remain open.
