Toronto police has now started to crack down on speeding bicyclists, especially on certain bike paths. Enforcing speed limits of cyclists is an effort to ensure the safety of the biker themselves and others on the path.
Signs that indicate a speed limit of 20km/hr with a message of “Slow Down” are posted on the Etobicoke bike path. 20km/hr is just over 12 mph.
Toronto Police posted photos on Facebook of the officers using radar guns to track speeds of cyclists.
Since showing these photos, the Toronto police has received all sorts of criticism, many people questioning why police are putting resources towards cyclists speeding when there are far more pressing issues, according to BlogTo.
