Johnny B’s Top 10 Favorite Van Halen Songs

The Mix Morning Show’s Johnny B would consider Eddie Van Halen his favorite musician. After his passing, Johnny has created a list of his Top 10 Favorite Van Halen songs to celebrate the life of Eddie:

• 10. Unchained (1981)

  This song just kicks!! When Dave says, "one break coming up.." Enough said, classic Van Halen.

• 9. Feel So Good (1988)

  From the OU812 LP, another Eddie Van Halen keyboard lead in song but, with a great lead riff in the middle. The Sam Halen years show the band's versatility.

• 8. Poundcake (1991)

  Ed again decides to get a custom drill to play across the strings on the opening of the song. This creates yet another classic Eddie Van Halen riff!
• 7. Big Bad Bill (Is Sweet William Now) (1982)

  Only love this so much because Ed's dad plays clarinet on this little blues diddy.

• 6. Jump (1984)

  Again Ed looking to change up the sound by introducing the keyboard. The band hated it, David Lee Roth said, " you're a guitar hero man, nobody wants to see and hear you play keyboard". Fans loved it as it became the band's only #1 hit.

• 5. Dreams (1986)

  Having had the honor of flying with the Navy's Blue Angels the band used footage from the Angel's in the video. Great guitar riff and keys from Ed on this one.
• 4. Take Your Whiskey Home (1980)

  The song starts out with Ed playing a scat jazz blues acoustic guitar. David Lee Roth scats and then Ed launches into that classic guitar riff.

• 3. Good Enough (1986)

  From the album 5150, which is the LA Police Code for dealing with an insane person. This was the first LP with Sammy Hagar or Sam Halen as I call them. i used this for my ringtone for my wife...Sammy says, "helllooooo baby" and Ed wails and his guitar playing at the end is jaw dropping!

  The solo is jaw dropping. Van Halen's cover of the Kink's classic was blistering and introduced so many of us to the band.
