Here’s What You CAN Do in Wilmington This Weekend!
It’s Labor Day weekend! It marks the unofficial end to summer, which is kind of sad. There are some really cool events going on in the area this weekend!
If you’re interested in checking out a new restaurant, Le Cavalier at the Green Room opened a few days ago. The new French Brassiere is in Hotel DuPont. It replaced the fine dining restaurant, formally known as The Green Room. You will want to make a reservation!
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, you can enjoy dining on Delaware. Delaware Avenue will close between Clayton and North Dupont and from North DuPont to North Scott Street for outdoor dining. It’s a great way to support some of your local Delaware ave restaurants like Catherine Rooney’s, Trolley Square Oyster House, and Crow Bar. It starts Fridays at 4 pm and areas close at 10:30 each night. COVID-19 guidelines are in place.
Here’s some Saturday fun for the whole family! On Saturday from 10am-2pm, you can celebrate International Vulture Awareness Day at the Brandywine Zoo! There’s going to be a scavenger hunt! Make sure you preregister here.
Just like many other events, The Arden Fair, which usually takes place during Labor Day Weekend, has been canceled because of Coronavirus. However, the Arden Concert Gild presents the 2020 Virtual Arden Fair featuring acts like Mississippi Earl Brown, Jea Street Jr, and Lyric Drive. The event is free on facebook live Saturday at 5:30, but donations are welcome! More details here.
If you’re looking to venture out on Saturday evening, you can to the Mt. Cuba Center for Concerts On The Lawn. You can get tickets in advance because space is limited. The event is BYO blankets and chairs, but there will be a local food truck and onsite beer and wine for purchase. Bring your mask when entering indoor spaces or when social distancing isn’t possible.
