For more than 20 years, Jenny Edgar, 32, has had a very limited diet after developing a fear of fruits and vegetables. She would gag if she tried anything other than dry cereal, cheese, cookies or pasta and French fries. Even her Christmas dinner was mac and cheese. Jenny also avoided eating out because fruit, veggies or fish would leave her feeling sick. Her fear developed as a child because she was afraid to not like the food so she didn’t bother trying them in case she had to spit the out. She would just eat cheese and pasta because she knew she liked it.
After she got engaged, she decided that she wanted to lose weight for her wedding. She also wanted to make sure that her food aversion wasn’t affecting her son’s lifestyle. It was time for her to face her fears. After six hypnotherapy sessions, she can now enjoy some of her most feared foods. She visited hypnotherapist, Russell Hemmings who coached her, using cognitive behavioral therapy and hypnotherapy to overcome here fear. Jenny has enjoyed pineapple, fish and veggies and she’s motivated to live a healthier life style.
