According to various news sources, “The European Commission said on Thursday, Aug . 27, it had signed a contract on behalf of EU states with British drugmaker AstraZeneca for the supply of at least 300 million doses of its COVID-19 vaccine candidate.”

AstraZeneca had already signed an agreement in early August.

This is the first contract pertaining to potential COVID-19 vaccines for the EU, and also gives the option to purchase 100 million additional doses to be distributed among the 27 EU states.
