If you’re looking for some weekend summer fun, we have some great events going on in our area!
Tonight (August 21) and tomorrow (August 22) are movie nights at Frawley Stadium! Frawley Stadium will feature open-air showings of blockbuster hits in the seating bowl. Tickets are limited to ensure plenty of social distancing. Doors open at 7 and the movie starts at 8. Tonight you can catch ‘Field of Dreams’ and tomorrow they are showing ‘Despicable Me.’ Get tickets here.
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, you can enjoy dining on Delaware. Delaware Avenue will be closed between Clayton and North Dupont and from North DuPont to North Scott Street for outdoor dining. It’s a great way to support some of your local Delaware ave restaurants like Catherine Rooney’s, Trolley Square Oyster House, and Crow Bar. It starts Fridays at 4 pm and areas close at 10:30 each night. COVID-19 guidelines are strictly enforced.
Tonight is Astronomy night! You can stargaze and learn folklore and see what constellations are most visible during the summer months in Brandywine Creek State Park! Pre-registration is required because space is limited.
There’s a great family events at Hagley Museum and Library on Saturday at noon. Science Saturdays is fun for all ages. You’re invited to discover solutions to science and engineering challenges! This week you can launch stomp rockets and create your own balloon pinwheels. It’s a drop in activity so you can join in any time from 12-4pm. Here is more information.
On Saturday night, you can go to the Riverfront for drive in concert featuring The Amish Outlaws and Best Kept Soul. The concert will be in the commuter lot behind Frawley Stadium, so cars should enter from Justison Street or Madison Street. The lot will open at 6:30 PM and Wilmington’s own Best Kept Soul will kick off the fun at 7:30. There will be public restrooms available, just bring your mask when leaving your designated area.
