DIAA Votes to Postpone High School Sports Seasons
The DIAA (Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association Board of Directors) met today to vote on postponing the fall sports programs in Delaware.
During the public meeting, the vote went 15-0. This means that all sports seasons will be shortened and high school sports will be delayed.
Practices would start later than usual, and full seasons would be much shorter.
Official dates for the start of seasons will not be announced until September. Ultimately, board members decided to begin with the winter season followed by fall and spring athletics.
The board expressed that all athletes deserve to play and that no one season should go depleted or cancelled if possible. The members are also currently outlining regulations to stay safe during sports practices and seasons.
