Officially Licensed Music Videos Are Now On Facebook
In a recent blog post, Facebook revealed that they will now allow officially licensed music videos on the platform. They write, “Today, we’re adding a new way for people to come together around music by bringing official music videos to Facebook in the US. You’ll be able to discover, watch and share music videos from today’s top artists to up-and-coming bands and classics across various music genres on Facebook.”
The social media app has already previously been hosting videos in Thailand and India. Now in the US, they have partnerships with Sony Music Group, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Merlin, BMG, Kobalt, and more.
In the blog, Facebook explains that similar to other videos, users can react to, comment on, and share official music videos across News Feed, Groups, and Messenger. They also state that they’re launching a place for the videos in Facebook Watch where users can explore music videos by genre, artist, mood, or by different playlists. They add, “Over time, the experience will become more personalized to your tastes based on artists you follow and videos you engage with.”
The Music destination in Facebook Watch is live and is available on desktop, iOS, and Android mobile devices.
