Wawa is Asking Customers To Use Credit/Debit Cards, Or Pay Via App, or Use Exact Change
Did you know there is a nationwide coin shortage? According to 6ABC, Wawa is asking customers to use exact change, pay with a credit or debit or their mobile app. Customers can exchange their rolled coins for bills at select Wawa stores too. Wawa is also allowing customers to “round up” their purchase to the nearest dollar. The store will donate the change to the ‘Wawa Foundation’, which supports local charities.
Here’s whats going on with the coin shortage. Last month, the Federal Reserve said the COVID-19 pandemic has “significantly disrupted the supply chain and normal circulation patterns for US coin.” Starting on June 15, Reserve Banks and Federal Reserve coin distribution locations began allocating coin inventories sent to banks. The fed is confident that the issue will resolve once the economy opens more broadly and circulation patterns return to normal.
