Delaware’s Presidential Primary is Today (July 7th)
Governor John Carney’s State of Emergency permits voters in Delaware to vote from home. All voters were able to request an absentee ballot to reduce the risk of spreading or contracting the coronavirus. If you have your absentee ballot, you can fax, email or drop it off at the Department of Elections in your county before 8 pm. If you don’t have it, it’s too late to vote absentee and you must go to the polls.
Due to coronavirus, a limited number of polling places are open today from 7am to 8 pm. Voters can cast their ballots at any polling place in their county. Voters are usually limited to their assigned polling places. Here is the list of polling places in Delaware for today’s election. If DO you go out to the polls, be sure to wear your mask and social distance.
This is a closed primary, therefore voters must be registered Democrat or Republican to vote. The deadlines to register and/or switch parties for this election have passed. Last month Delaware lawmakers passed a bill to allow mail-in voting for all 2020 elections. The Department of Elections will mail ballot applications to residents for the state primary on September 15th and the general election on November 3rd. All polling places will be open for the fall elections.
