20-Year-Old Tennessee Dog Believed to Be Oldest-Ever Golden Retriever

Happy Birthday, Augie!!!! A Tennessee golden retriever is proving to the world that age is just a number. The GoldenHeart Golden Retrievers Rescue said that August, AKA Augie, is believed to be the oldest-ever golden retriever. Jennifer and Steve Hetterscheidt adopted Augie at the age of 14. She celebrated the big 2-0 on April 24th, becoming the first of her breed known to reach a third decade of life. Golden Retrievers have an average lifespan of 10-12 years. Steve and Jennifer say that Augie is healthy for her advanced age. The good girl celebrated her birthday with a special birthday bandanna and a dog-friendly cake. Here is more about Augie.
