Is The Delabear Back In Town?
The Delabear might be back! Residents spotted a black bear in Heritage Park in Milltown on Saturday, but DENREC police were unable to find it. Then on Monday, residents of Westgate Farms reported additional black bear sightings. Residents posted about the sightings on the Nextdoor App and facebook. One resident said they saw it run across Newport Gap Pike by the intersection of Loveville Road. The Upper Chichester Police Township Police also posted a video of a black bear sighting on Monday. It’s unclear whether or not it’s the same bear.
You may remember the bear that made its way down from Villanova and wreaked havoc here in Wilmington a few months ago. It was dubbed it the ‘delabear’ and it lead officials on a chase through Trolley Square before disappearing into Alapocas Run State Park. Could it possibly be the same bear? If you DO see the bear, remain vigilant. Do not approach it. Keep an eye on the kids and pets if they are outside.
