Soon You Will Be Able To Buy An ‘Un-Smart’ Rotary Cell Phone
If you’ve been wishing for a break from your smartphone, it’s coming soon. Earlier this year, Space Engineer, Justine Haupt showed the world a custom cellphone she built. The design got rid of the things you’ve come to expect and replaced them with and old-school rotary dial for placing calls. People responded so well that Haupt is now developing a “mark 2” version of the design. It will be available as a ready-built device featuring a larger electronic paper display, newly manufactured rotary dial parts instead of old salvaged hardware, an SD card slot. It will be upgraded from 3G to 4G. A listing on Haupt’s new robotic’s company website—Sky’s Edge—claims the phone could be available as early as September.
