As a safety precaution, the Christiana mall has delayed its June 1 open. Governor Carney’s Phase 1 reopening plan becomes effective today, which allows malls to open. The number of shoppers is limited to 30% of total occupancy. It is unknown if fears of civil unrest are a factor in the decision or whether the mall was not ready for the opening. Reopening comes with restrictions including counting those entering and leaving the mall. Some of Christiana Mall’s most popular stores have NOT yet announced a reopening plan. Target has remained open because the grocery store and pharmacy are considered an essential business. However, the Concord Mall will reopen today.
