Delaware Will Move Presidential Primary For Second Time
The new date for the Presidential primary in Delaware is July 7th. Governor Carney announced the change earlier on Thursday. He also stated that all registered Republicans and Democrats would be receiving absentee ballot applications so they can vote from home and return by mail.
Voters must return the application or complete the process online to receive an absentee ballot. Eligible voters can select “sick” or “temporarily or permanently disabled physically disabled” options on the application, even if they are not experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. The Department of Elections will operate at least six polling places in each county so voters can cast ballots in person if they choose.
The second postponement is to prepare for the mailings. The primary was scheduled for April, then delayed to June 2nd.
Gov. John Carney ordered the date change for Delaware's primary election to allow the Department of Elections to issue the absentee ballot applications in time. https://t.co/kLyMI4eeMf
