Ocean City is planning to reopen its beach and boardwalk Saturday to take a “baby step” toward returning the town to a new normal during the coronavirus, according to a city council member.
City Council Secretary Mary Knight said Mayor Rick Meehan announced the decision during Monday’s 6 p.m. meeting. Knight said all seven council members supported the move.
“We’re not closing it to day-trippers,” Knight said. “If they want to come down and spend the day at the beach and walk the boardwalk, there’s no problem with that. It’s Mother’s Day this weekend, it might be nice to take your mom somewhere.”
