Your dog might have a hard time once the pandemic lockdown is over. Dr. Roger Mugford is an animal psychologist used by the British royal family. He says that while people are working from home dogs can build up a “huge reservoir” of “over-dependency” which could be a problem later. As you’ve relied on your dog for emotional support it will be a “huge shock” once things go back to normal. Once you return to work this can lead your dog to express their anxiety through problem chewing, constant barking, and possibly hurting themselves. To prevent this issue Mugford suggests dog owners take 30 minute breaks away from their pets several times a day to ease them into being alone when the lockdown ends.
