Local reports out of India say a baby boy and girl—twins—born on March 27th were named Corona (son) and Covid (daughter) by their parents. Parents Preeti and Vinay Verma told the Press Trust of India that the names were chosen to symbolize triumph over hardship. Mom Preeti said that the delivery was rough, and so she and her husband wanted to make the day memorable. She added, “Indeed the virus is dangerous and life-threatening but its outbreak made people focus on sanitation, hygiene and [led to the development] other good habits. Thus, we thought about these names.”
