An 11 year old black lab named Cotton was rescued from a house fire in Union Park Gardens over the weekend. Cotton was home alone when the fire started. Among other injuries, she suffered from smoke inhalation and struggles to breathe. Her owner is already dealing with the financial recovery from losing his home and he cannot afford the care for his dog. The Brandywine Valley SPCA partnered with the VCA Animal Hospital to make sure Cotton gets the care she needs. Cotton had no previous association with the Brandywine Valley SPCA--they just want to help her get better. The community has also donated thousands towards her medical care. Once she recovers, cotton will be reunited with her family and the firefighters and EMT's who saved her life.
