Thousands of people are rushing to snap up tickets for the Tuesday night April 16, 2002 drawing, the second-biggest lottery jackpot in U.S. history. The jackpot in the seven-state game played in Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey and Virginia climbed $25 million Monday, April 15, 2002 after strong sales over the weekend. By the time of the drawing, the prize could swell past the U.S. record of $363 million, split by two Big Game winners in 2000. (Photo by Tim Boyle/Getty Images)

You gotta be in it to win it!

A South Carolina man who has been playing the same lottery numbers for 15 years had his persistence pay off when he scored a $100,000 jackpot. The numbers,  represent family birthdays and other lucky digits, which he plans on using on future tickets.

Meanwhile, a North Carolina man who funded a beach trip with his $200,000 lottery jackpot seven years ago now plans to do the same with another $250,000 he just won. Donald Hildebran stopped at a convenience store and bought two scratch-off lottery tickets. He returned later to hopefully win his initial $5 back, but when he scanned his ticket the machine told him to go lottery headquarters to pick up a $250,000 jackpot. He is planning to take the same beach vacation he did last time he hit the jackpot, but in a New Ford Explorer.
