Eminem's surprise performance of "Lose Yourself" was one of the highlights of the Oscars last night; it was a big night for Em, as he also got back together with his friend, Oscar-winner Elton John backstage.

Eminem posted a photo with Elton to Instagram, saying, "I got to see my Uncle Elton tonight at the Oscars. Congrats on your win too, Sir!"

The rapper and Sir Elton John first became friends when Elton performed Dido's part on Eminem's "Stan" at the Grammys in 2001. In this interview with the BBC, Elton discusses his friendship with Em, and describes a NSFW wedding gift that he and David Furnish received from the rapper.

Eminem's performance of "Lose Yourself" came 18 years after he won an Oscar for the song, but didn't attend the ceremony to accept.  He posted "Look, if you had another shot, another opportunity... Thanks for having me @theacademy. Sorry it took me 18 years to get here.."
