CONFIRMED: Tornado Touched Down in Cecil County
A tornado in February!
The National Weather Service confirmed that an EF-1 rated tornado touched down at around 9:39 am in Elkton during Friday morning’s storm. Multiple trees were uprooted onto houses and apartments. No injuries were reported, but wind speeds were estimated to have hit 100mph and the storm had a width of about 600 yards. According to the Tornado History Project, this was the first confirmed February tornado strike in Cecil County in at least 70 year!
The National Weather Service found no indication of tornado-based damage in Delaware. They tweeted”The survey team looked extensively through New Castle County, but found all damage to be consistent with straight line winds”
