Doctors have successfully replaced a British man's severed thumb with his big toe.
After David Lee lost his thumb in a workplace accident, doctors proposed using his toe to replace it. Worried he couldn't continue working as a cobbler with a missing thumb, he agreed.
Doctors say there are several options for replacing a thumb but the big toe is best because it's "the thing most like a thumb on the body".
Lee says his new appendage "feels heavy" but works - he's back to cobbling shoes and even painting as a hobby.
