Taylor Swift Reveals That Her Mother Has A Brain Tumor
Taylor Swift revealed some bad news in her latest interview with Variety. The singer explains that her mother, Andrea Swift, is dealing with additional health problems.
Andrea has been going through chemotherapy for breast cancer for some time, and while in treatment, the doctors discovered a tumor. “While she was going through treatment, they found a brain tumor,” Taylor explains. “And the symptoms of what a person goes through when they have a brain tumor is nothing like what we’ve ever been through with her cancer before. So it’s just been a really hard time for us as a family.”
Taylor also talks about her decision to perform festivals this year, and how she chooses to do so for both a change of pace and because of her mom’s treatments. She says, “I feel like I haven’t done festivals, really, since early in my career — they’re fun and bring people together in a really cool way. But I also wanted to be able to work as much as I can handle right now, with everything that’s going on at home. And I wanted to figure out a way that I could do both those things.” Swift adds, “I mean, we don’t know what is going to happen. We don’t know what treatment we’re going to choose. It just was the decision to make at the time, for right now, for what’s going on.”
The struggle with Andrea Swift’s health will be shown in Taylor’s upcoming Netflix documentary. The film will also show how Taylor has transformed into a woman not afraid to discuss politics and causes that are important to her. On the upcoming project, Taylor says, “There’s a lot that’s not cute in this documentary.”
Taylor Swift: Miss Americana will be released on Netflix on January 31.
