Billie Eilish Not Knowing Who Van Halen is Causes Van Halen to Trend on Twitter
Van Halen began trending on Twitter today (December 2), but it had nothing to do with Eddie Van Halen‘s rumored health issues, and it somehow had nothing to do with David Lee Roth saying something mildly insane.
No…Van Halen trended because alt. pop wunderkind Billie Eilish said she didn’t know who they were.
The source of her lack of Van Halen knowledge came from a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! where she was asked if she could name a Van Halen song. Eilish’s response: “Who?”

Obviously, there were MANY reactions to this clip. Here are just some of the best ones.
Billie Eilish doesn’t know who Van Halen is.

My take: you should definitely know who Van Halen is even if you’re 17.

We grew up listening to #VanHalen and we're old as fck so why would @billieeilish know who they are? #NoDiss

Who cares if a teenager doesn’t know the music you knew when you were a teen? Introduce them! Y’all didn’t come onto this earth knowing all the stuff you know now either. Doesn’t matter when they meet the good stuff. Shut up and play it for them. #VanHalen #BillieEilish

I say this as a superfan: Van Halen has given Billie Eilish no reason to know who they are. They've done very little during her lifetime.

Don't complain about other people's musical experience being different. Instead, share -- give people a reason to love what you love. 🎧
Who cares if Bille Eilish, a teenage girl, doesn't know who Van Halen is. I'm a rock fan in his 30s and can only name one song by them lol 🤷♂️

Relax I'm just kidding. I know all the Van Halen hits. My favorites are Enter Sandman and You Give Love A Bad Name

now let's ask Van Halen if they know who Billie Eilish is and get performatively mad about that
— maura quint (@behindyourback) December 2, 2019
getting mad at 17 year-old eddie van halen for not knowing all the words to the 1937 hit "It's De-Lovely"

However, if there was an award for “Best Tweet” in this madness, that belonged to Wolfgang Van Halen.
If you haven’t heard of @billieeilish, go check her out. She’s cool. If you haven’t heard of @VanHalen, go check them out. They’re cool too.

Music is supposed to bring us together, not divide us. Listen to what you want and don’t shame others for not knowing what you like.
