Pete Davidson Attempts To #BreakTheInternet With His ‘PAPER’ Cover
Kim Kardashian did it, now Pete Davidson is trying it too. The actor and comedian is the latest cover model for PAPER Magazines, #breaktheinternet issue. Pete is on the cover posed as Barbie’s boyfriend – and he is nude.
According to Tommy Dorfman, who photographed and wrote the article, the idea for the shoot came from Pete’s struggles with manipulative tabloids and his mental health. Dorman explains, “He’d told me he slept in a car bed as a kid and I saw it immediately: this Staten Island Ken Doll version of Pete stuck in a Barbie nightmare, pills everywhere.”
He adds that he told Pete, “You’d be like depressed Ken,” and Pete jokingly replied, “Yeah! And d–ckless, like, with Ken-d–ck.”
In the interview, Pete opens up about getting bullied online and why he quit the internet. He says, “I got rid of the Internet because I can’t be on it. And anytime I would go on, I would just see horrible things written about me all the time… I would look through the search tab on Instagram and I’m a meme! I’m multiple MEMES. I’m punchlines or set-ups to jokes, so social media’s a little different for me. I had to get rid of it.” He adds that instead of putting stuff out on the internet, he now saves it for stand-up comedy.
Pete also talks about how he treats his girlfriends. He says, “When I’m in a relationship, is I treat the person I’m with like a princess. I try and go as above and beyond as possible, because that’s what you’re supposed to do? If you’re in a relationship with someone, you’re just supposed to make that person feel as special as possible.”
He also explains that sometimes it backfires on him. “But sometimes when you put so much on someone, it overwhelms them, and then they don’t know if they could come close to that. So, it’s very off-putting to some. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t, and then it sometimes makes me feel bad about myself because I’m like, I did all this stuff and…'”
