Kanye West Says He’s Interested In Running For President in 2024
Rapper-producer Kanye West recently announced that he has plans to run for president in 2024 as well as plans to change his name, as People reports.
The rapper-producer was recently an unannounced speaker at Fast Company’s Innovation Festival and the 42-year-old artist was joined on stage by Steven Smith who is his collaborator on his Yeezy brand.
“When people say it’s crass to call yourself a billionaire, I say I might legally change my name to Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West for a year until y’all understand exactly what it is,” he said. “It will be on the license plate.”
West then shifted the conversation to his aspirations to run for president.
“When I run for president in 2024 —” West said to the audience who began laughing. “What y’all laughing at?”
The rapper-producer stated that if he were elected president, he would “create so many jobs.”
“I’m not going to run, I’m going to walk,” he said. “What they’re saying is Kanye’s crazy — one and three African Americans are in jail and all the celebrities are in jail also because they can’t say nothing because they’re so scared.”
“As black designers out of America, you can’t have an opinion,” he continued. “You can only be the consumer… you can only be a demographic.”
“And that a boardroom says ‘This is the black demographic…This is who you’re supposed to vote on,” West continued. “This is what you’re supposed to buy. This is your Popeye’s chicken sandwich you’re supposed to eat on. I have seen the boardroom and back. And it’s completely the concept of a demographic.”
The discussion then switched gears from politics to innovations that the rapper is making as a fashion designer. West said that Yeezy is different from other brands because it doesn’t conform to the average cycles of the fashion industry.
“We don’t put a timeline on things,” West said. “The idea of competition that’s out there helps present a timeline. It makes things be better. Forces as creatives to bring things to market because Yeezy is the Apple of apparel. There hasn’t been an Apple of apparel —there hasn’t been that thing.”
The rapper-producer also shared that he plans to make the new Yeezy sneaker out of algae and will be relocating the company’s headquarters to Cody, Wyoming.
“We have 4,000 acre ranch and a couple of other properties out there,” the father of four said. “We’re going to be farming and going seed to sow and have our own cotton, hydroponic farm, hemp farm, and wheat farm… and getting into how we can have last impact with the dyes because our colors are a big signature of the brand.”
“So dyeing is one of the main things that’s impacting the planet in the fashion industry so just being responsible from A to Z,” West continued “Our goal within the next two years is to bring the manufacturing back to America, South America, and North America and bring it back stateside and also present jobs for people back here.”

Fox & Friends seem to be on board with Kanye West following his announcement.
“His new record, it is unbelievable. It’s great. The messages are beautiful. He’s a strong Christian. … He’d get the support of the black community. When our current president announced that he was running, a lot of people laughed too,” remarked Ainsley Earhardt.
“He’s a free thinker,” added Pete Hegseth. “People like him who have been liberated by the president, to think more freely, ask the big questions that aren’t being asked, and be aggressive about it.”
“You can see the depth of authenticity, of who he is and what he believes,” Hegseth continued. “It’s not a stunt, you can tell. If he continues to do that, and is thoughtful and intentional about what to do, he’s going to be the kind of person who the media laughs at, who the elites laugh at, but who gets the last laugh when Americans resonate with what he believes in.”
