Juul Employee Claims Company Was Aware Of Contaminated Pods
A former Juul employee is making some shocking claims about the company. Per People, Siddharth Breja, former senior Vice President of global finance, says he was fired for speaking out against the decision to send out contaminated pods.
Breja explained that Juul executives were informed about a batch of mint e-liquid pods that were contaminated. He also said he “protested Juul’s refusal to issue a product recall for the contaminated pods, or at a minimum issue a public health and safety notice to consumers.” Unfortunately, the lawsuit does not specify what the contaminate was.
In the lawsuit, Breja also claims that Juul planned on selling pods that were a year old. He lobbied for expiration dates to be added to packaging, and it was pushed back.
Siddharth Breja was fired shortly after.
Juul has responded to these claims, saying, “Mr. Breja’s claims are baseless. He was terminated in March 2019 because he failed to demonstrate the leadership qualities needed in his role. The allegations concerning safety issues with Juul products are equally meritless, and we already investigated the underlying manufacturing issue and determined the product met all applicable specifications. The company will vigorously defend this lawsuit.”
So far, hundreds have been hospitalized due to problems after vaping, 34 people have died.
